Growing up I use to write alot of poetry. Alot of different stories. Some I've lost over the years and some I have just recently went threw once again. Here is one I wrote way before this current war about a soldier at war.
"Corrupting thoughts causing head aches sharper than glass. Everyone around you is passing away fast. Your seeing a big blurr and laughing although unsure of the joke. Around the brightly burning fire graced with tall, twisting smoke. Hearing gunshots burst as thick red blood falls at your feet from the closest soldier. You lay on the ground firing and loading your amo faster than you ever have in fear you may end up like the soldier lying right next to you. Your praying for survival while questioning death. You hear no more shots toward you. You feel your free but alone. You stand slowly to creep towards your tent. Not looking directly behind you, you get hit harder than cement. You freeze for a second to catch your own thoughts. They have captured you and they drag you with them slowly. At the one time you thought it was all over it came back to haunt you. Your wife and family pray for your survival as you believe you have let them all down. But to your surprise you see the men from the campfire who ran forward instead of lying down. They have come to your rescue and they have captured the enemy. The war is now over and your free to go home. You walk toward your faithful family and you are now, no longer, alone! written by: Jay Steven Sinkovitz"
There are definitely a few things I could probably do better with it now, but it is always cool to bring things back and see what it sounds like with a more adult mind frame. I'm not sure when the point came that I stopped writing but dating back it looks like it was around the end of my sophmore year in high school. Too many distractions maybe? I know I lost alot of poems when i let an ex-girlfriend take them home and read them without realizing we were going to be breaking up a week or so later to never see those great poems ever again! I hope now to maybe pick back up where I left off, with the writing! Not the Ex!!
