An Xbox 360 or iPod touch seem like a couple of popular items and it seems okay in a way for kids to get something like that for Christmas cause it is mostly a one time purchase, no monthly dues, just a simple 150.00 to 250.00 and a couple games and that's it.
But an iPhone on the other hand, is completely unnecessary for a kid, period. I thought the touch and Xbox 360 was a huge stretch! Not only are you spending the $200.00+ base price for the phone itself with a 2 year contract, but you pay literally 120.00+ a month for the service unless they don't get unlimited text messaging which no kid these days want a cell phone without it only so they can text message (never call) their friends who they just saw at school 5 seconds before. It doesn't make sense for any parent to purchase it for their kid especially when a touch is very similar with WiFi just without the 3G network. People with freakin' big business can't even buy iPhones sometimes, a friggin' KID?
What especially bugs the heck out of me is when the kid takes his iPhone with him over to a guests house for an Eagles vs Giants game gathering and the entire time he is there he doesn't really say a word to ANYONE and he doesn't even lift his head for more than .3556 mili. seconds while they're there. And you know he's not ignoring or not paying attention to anyone because he's got an extremely urgent text convo. going on or an emergency call but for some reason nothing is more important than his iPhone.
