Save the Polaroids.....

It has been some time now since I last heard the news of the homicide of Polaroid film. I need some and was hoping there is still some out there somewhere. I want to share as much as my time as I can with the damn Polaroids before their sad extinction, they're awesome!

I ran across a website who has or is trying to get rights to one of the warehouses that produces the film so that they can give the production of the film a try, I'm stoked, can they revive our film!?! Check em out': SAVE POLAROID

Happy Lucky V* Day or should I say Unlucky......

You probably don't remember but last year when living in Tennessee I received a box from the good ol' USPS with all my favorite little things in it. It was from my mom of 21 year's and counting! And although most every year on Valentines Day she gives me, my brother, and my sisters some sort of gift, I must have forgotten because it was completely unexpected last year.

So this year I decided to get some of her favorite things and thank god it was her and no one else cause I know most everything she likes. Mi madre isn't one of those people that if you spent the whole day trying to make a list of things they like the only thing you accomplish is a head ache, those people are annoying!

As hard as it usually is, I found a dang funny card for her too! At around 2:00am I walked into the card isle. There was this lady there pacing, she obviously wanted the "perfect" card for whomever it was she felt the need to buy a card for and based from the look on her face she wasn't finding anything but yawns and corny jokes in that isle. I walk in and pick up the first interesting card I see, read it, and knew with no hesitation it was the card to get. I wasn't even in the isle for a full minute! I didn't get to see how the lady reacted to the quickness but I'm sure she thought, "oh men, they just don't care about what the card really says I guess", but truthfully, I just got lucky because the card is great!

I also got a gift from the madre this year and she was actually lookin' out for me! Dieters get candy on Valentines Day too!

Delish! Happy Valentines Day!

I MISS YOU....and the picture explains it ALL.....

I wonder if most people get to experience this type of weather. Being from Florida I have a deep-down strong LOVE for it!

It's usually summer time and it rains off and on leaving the roads nice and shiny. It could be sunny but within seconds the rain comes down again forcing people in doors and leaving some (like myself) in a water wonderland almost better than any water park you could imagine. The winds become strong and feel incredible as the flags hanging in front of patriotic homes and business's rip forward as if to escape the pole they're attached to.
The night brings in "the calm before the storm". The stop lights at each street and the tale lights of the one leading car in front of you reflect red off the street below. Those sitting at home hear the whistling wind calmly rumbling the house and the rain showering down on the roof top make the most amazing orchestrated melody sending you straight into sleep mode or such a relaxed state as if you were some sort of robot programmed with different settings when you hear different sounds.
It's a certain sight, smell, and feel very difficult to explain that maybe not just Florida bred enjoy.

It's been this way today and for the last couple of days here in Pennsylvania only leaving a strong ache in me for just how much I miss the summer storms in the place I was born and spent 19 glorious years of my life, Bradenton Florida!

Will Busta Rhymes bust a rhyme?...3D on NBC!

The BIG GAME is here again! It really doesn't seem like a year has gone by since I posted about last Super Bowl. No big parties this year but that doesn't mean no good food and conversation which pretty much defines a party, so I guess we are having a party!

Steelers vs Cardinals, that's crazy. I'm hoping it's a good game and this time around I cross my fingers in hopes that Arizona will CRUSH Pittsburgh. Since I live in Pennsylvania and the Eagles didn't make it to the Bowl, at work, play, the grocery store, everywhere I go I have to see people sporting Steelers gear. Either way I hope it really is a good game.

You know how when your playing a game with someone that might not know how to play, or the kids really young so you don't want to crush them. You let them win right, or should I reverse that, they let me win! It's the right thing to do. SO, if the Steelers happen to win tonight, I'm sure it's because Arizona just wanted to do the right thing, huh? haha!

Tampa, FL., 30 minutes from my home town of Bradenton, FL., is this years hosting spot. It would have been pretty crazy to just be down there during this event. I'm sure it's getting wild and crazy! My brother works at the Hyatt on the water in Sarasota, most beautiful beaches ever, and Busta Rhymes and his entourage is staying there so I told my brother to make Busta Rhymes bust a rhyme and if he doesn't then throw him out of the hotel, haha! It only seems fair!

I was mad happy to hear that NBC is hosting the game this year because I don't know about you but I agree with Conan O'Brien and cannot stand Cletis, that little anamatronic robot guy that jumps on the the screen and starts doing warm ups and dancing and all that stupid stuff, so annoying! Because FOX isn't hosting we won't have to deal with Cletis and we even get a few new perks. I hope you grabbed your 3D glasses at your local grocery store so you can watch the commercials and half time experience in 3 glorious dimensions, haha! Seems pretty stinking cool, I hope it is! If your just passing by this blog and not sure when the Super Bowl even is, this is for you! Game is today, Sunday, February 1st, at 6:00pm eastern on NBC. Don't forget to grab your glasses! Hope everyone has a fun and safe time!

Pilgrim's Braking Branches..

Whenever I heard the quiet and relaxing lullaby "Rock-a-bye Baby" as a child, (a few days ago!), the melody always knocked me out hard just like it is meant to do. As I grew older I remembered the song and the words and couldn't understand why someone would be so gruesome and that parents would even sing to their kid about another kid's cradle braking while in a tree and the baby falling to the ground. We all know it....

"Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetop,
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock,
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
down goes baby, cradle and all
."

I always picture a tiny baby in a white cradle somehow magically placed at the highest point of a tree right next to the moon at night and then a huge gust of wind comes and brakes the fragile cradle and the baby just plummets all the way down the tree hitting branches upon branches until it is finally stopped by the hard ground. It's so evil!

So I wanted to figure out where this little song actually came from and what it really means and share it with you!

You may have already known but the song is possibly dated back all the way to the 1600's. It is rumoured that it was written by a young pilgrim who sailed to America on the Mayflower who observed the way native-American women rocked their babies in birch-bark cradles, which were suspended from the branches of trees, allowing the wind to rock the baby to sleep. However, the branches holding the cradles sometimes had a habit of breaking, causing the cradle to fall and the baby in it to get hurt.

It still seems messed up to me but there are other theories too. I do know one thing, I'm glad I didn't think about the lyrics all those times I was being sung to sleep with them by mi madre!

Dunkaroos

Who could forget Dunkaroos. I can't believe they were ever taken off the market. They attract more children than Michael Jackson's Never-land Ranch ever could. Where did these delicious kangaroo shaped cookies with chocolate or vanilla frosting or sometimes vanilla with sprinkles go?

I decided to look up some info on these bad boys and this is what I got.
"As the product grew in popularity, the company made some changes. In 1995, a new flavor, "Cookies 'n Cream," was introduced, which allowed the consumer to make his or her own cookie wafer sandwiches. The Shrek Edition Dunk-a-roos featuring green frosting were released soon after the movie (Shrek) itself.
The product's mascot was originally a kangaroo who wore a green hat, a green vest, a striped tie, and spoke with an Australian accent. In the fall of 1996, the company decided to change the mascot and initiated a contest known as "Dunk-a-Roos Kangaroo Kanga-Who Search," allowing children to submit drawings of possible designs. The winner, introduced in January 1997, was "Duncan the Dunking Daredevil"; in his commercials, he'd attempt a daring stunt to dunk his Dunk-a-Roos but would always fail.
Dunkaroos are hard, if not impossible, to find in the USA. They are available at many stores in Canada, and can be found online. Dunkaroos are also available in select BJ's Wholesale Club stores."
Looks like next time I have a day off my diet and have a huge sweet tooth I'm hittin' BJ's up! You should too!

Sun Drop

I don't have any clue why the heck I thought of it but I was introduced to this beverage while living in TN. I don't know if they sell it or manufacture it anywhere else but I have NEVER seen it anywhere else. (Chris)
My roommate Chris would buy like 3 or 4 12 packs of it and he'd be set for weeks. There is really NO point to this post. I can't drink Sun Drop right now but I definitely miss it and if you are ever in Tennessee or see it wherever else they sell it, pick one up!

CRAZINESS...

My day is starting way too late! I stayed up pretty late last night, until about 3:00-3:30am, well before the sun comes up. I set my alarm for about 8am and hadn't heard it go off yet when I noticed that it was dim outside. I automatically assumed the sun was rising as I peeked over at my phone to notice the time of 3:34pm! The sun was setting!

I have done this before, maybe twice, once like 5 months and once when I was a senior in high school, I had graduation rehearsals at 5pm, I woke up freaked thinking I was going to be crazy late but it turned out to be 5am! I freaked out because if you miss rehearsals you cant graduate, it was hilarious!

I hate it every single time it has happened but at least the one time it was good for a few laughs. This time around really sucks because with the weight-loss schedule just starting yesterday it's important that I eat a healthy breakfast and lunch, I pretty much missed both. I blame it on the Pm's I took to fall asleep. Luckily I don't work today!

Now, at about 4pm, I START my day!

Just give me a pencil and I'll give you a trick!!

I bet you I can make my pencil rubber, watch.......
Those were some dang great days when all it took was a pencil to entertain a few people, but mostly yourself! Now we need iPods and cell-phones and laptops and Wii's and Xbox360's and PS3's and iPhones and GPS and the list goes on and on. I love our advanced technologies, but you got to miss the simple old yellow pencil every now and then!
